Copy or externals for vendor drops?

Is it bad practice to use externals for doing vendor drops? Should I just be
copying in the code that I want to use instead?

Thanks,
Steve

For external libs, I have a completely separate repository. I then use the
svn_load_dirs script to import point releases of these libraries. This has
for me the advantage that I don't have to search for a special release in X
different repositories, I really have all used code backed up and (this being
a main difference to svn:externals) that I'm not referring to a volatile
target that changes completely out of my control.

Just a suggestion, YMMV.

Uli
