[jira] [Created] (HDFS-6122) Rebalance cached replicas between datanodes

Andrew Wang created HDFS-6122:
---------------------------------

Summary: Rebalance cached replicas between datanodes
                 Key: HDFS-6122
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-6122
             Project: Hadoop HDFS
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: caching
    Affects Versions: 2.3.0
            Reporter: Andrew Wang
            Assignee: Andrew Wang

It'd be nice if the NameNode was able to rebalance cache usage among datanodes. This would help avoid situations where the only three DNs with a replica are full and there is still cache space on the rest of the cluster. It'll also probably help for heterogeneous node sizes and when adding new nodes to the cluster or doing a rolling restart.
