Body:
A final note on this issue: I'm pretty happy with the property inheritance in Maven RC3 which solves my problem of global properties in a corporate environment (I'm using CVS modules in order to retrieve global build files). So IMO we can close this bug.

Key: MAVEN-1231

Environment: WinXP
Description:
In a corporate environment it's really necessary to be able to specify a global project.properties file (for properties such as maven.repo.remote). So I filed this as a bug which should be fixed in an 1.0 release of maven and not as an enhancement which could be done later.
I would like to add something like this to project.xml:
<globalProperties>//server/build-scripts/master-project.properties
</globalProperties>.
