NoSuchMethodError:
org.apache.beehive.netui.script.common.BundleMap.<init>(Ljavax/servlet/http/HttpServletRequest;Ljavax/servlet/ServletContext;Lorg/apache/beehive/netui/script/common/BundleContext)
It happened on:
org.apache.beehive.netui.tags.databinding.bundle.DeclareBundle.doEndTag(DeclareBundle.java:308)
I guess I will d/l the source so I can verify these errors, but I
probably won't look at it until Monday.

Agreed that it's possibly not sufficient, but it tends to be hard to
know what functionality a webapp is using and thus hard to clean
effectively.
For example, in the case where a webapp uses beehive-controls.jar
and raw Struts (no JPF), we probably wouldn't want to delete commons-
JARs as well.
Having a clean could be accomplished using explicit lists of the
JARs used by controls, NetUI, and WSM and then being able to call
something like:
<clean-netui dir="${webapp.dir}"/>
<clean-wsm dir="${webapp.dir}"/>
<clean-controls dir="${webapp.dir}"/>
Guess the question is whether this is something a Beehive developer
needs the runtime has been copied into an application.
If there's enough interest, we could add something like this.
Thoughts?

I'm not sure that 'rm WEB-INF/lib/beehive-*.jar' is really going to be
sufficient to clean out Beehive dependencies, since these jars
potentially pull in other dependencies too (like commons-*.jar) whose
versions will change over time.
It's probably better to build an explicit dependency list, and use it
for both copy (into WEB-INF/lib) and clean targets.

For me it will be less of an issue, as all of my extra jar files I add
to the webapp in my build file, so I can do 'rm lib/*' and then add my
jar files and beehive adds it's jar files.
If class names or methods are going to change again, it would make
sense to just delete beehive*.jar from WEB-INF/lib, since the
commons-*.jar dependencies will be copied into the webapp. My problem
ended up being that the class that the classloader used was the wrong
wrong, since there was more than one version of the beehive class in the
jar files.

James--
Yeah, I hear your pain relative to the cleaning the runtime out of
WEB-INF/lib. It's something we have to handle in the SVN tree because
(right now) we deploy test webapps in place.
With a 1.0 release, we should get past the point where cleaning the
runtime would be a big issue because the file names will have
stabilized.
Also, we've added "beehive-" to all of the JARs, so if you need to
remove the runtime from WEB-INF/lib while leaving other JARs in place,
hopefully an "rm WEB-INF/lib/*.jar" will do the trick.
Glad that got your app running again.

One thing that may be usefule for 'ant clean' would be to delete all
of the old jar files, even those that don't exist anymore, then when it
recopies the jar files only the correct jar files are present.
But, don't just delete WEB-INF/lib, as some other jar files may be
there that aren't beehive jars, but for the application.
I did delete the jar files, and when I did 'ant clean build war' I got
past the 'no method' problems, so your response was the problem.
Thanx.

Re: new error, NoSuchMethodError
Posted by Eddie O'Neil <ek...@bea.com>.
The other major change that we've made is that the six NetUI JARs
have been compacted into two JARs. The grouping is:
beehive-netui-scoping
-util
-pageflow
is now in beehive-netui-core.jar.
And:
beehive-netui-html
-template
-databinding
is now in beehive-netui-tags.jar.
So, make sure that the webapp runtime you're using in WEB-INF/lib
replaces the six old ones with the two new ones.
I'd guess that will help take care of the missing method errors.
Let me know how it goes; thanks for fighting through this with us.
:)
