   Currently if we try to create a table and append files to it in the same transaction with HiveCatalog it fails with NPE at `core/src/main/java/org/apache/iceberg/BaseMetastoreTableOperations.java`. This is due to a bug in the `BaseTransaction` class. Will post a PR with fix soon.
