cachpath & exclude

Is cachepath known to work/not work with exclude? I am specifying an 
exclude but it is still turning up in my cachepath.

I think cachepath works with the resolved set. So whatever gets  
excluded shouldn't have turned up. I do remember using it to that  
effect somewhere in my scripts.
