Code Review Request

I made a Pull Request that shows a bunch of little change to help make
XMark query 8 work. Change details are in the pull request. Please post
comments.

Query 8 almost works and the final issue is logged in this issue:

I would like feedback on how to address the printing of an apostrophe in
the attribute result.
