How can I lock a tag ?
Hello list,
Once a tag has been created (not a /specific/ tag, any tag), how
can I
prevent the users from modifying its contents ?
In the current
situation, anyone can just checkout the tag, modify
something and then
commit. If you export the tag later on, you get the
modified version.
How
can I prevent that ?
TIA
Cheers. Bye.

Write a pre-commit hook.
Or find a pre-written pre-commit hook that you can call.

Thanks a lot. That looks like an excellent starting point !

Exactly.
I will experiment with your hook script as a
starting point. I'm
thinking of adding a "lookup file" that would contain a
list of tag
names (and/or branch names -- I'd like to also be able to lock
branches). If the name is present in the list, said branch or tag is
locked.
Remove it from the list, and you unlock it.

The lookup file seems lighter to
manage than the authz file. As for the
admin. intervention required for each
branch/tag, that's the way
ClearCase does it as well, so that's fine with me.
Thanks again.

Hi,
The following hook should do it.
http://svn.haxx.se/users/archive-2005-11/0056.shtml
To expand on this point - how can tags be truly locked such that some can
be modified and others not.
I know you could control this via the authz file - however this would
require administrative intervention *for each* tag needing locked.
Anyone have any alternative suggestions?
