   Additionally: this PR wouldn't be accepted against main anyway -- if you don't a task to be re-run, don't clear it.
   
   There has been some discussion on the mailing list about adding a sort of "acknowledged" state, so that tasks that failed could be marked with some indicator of "yes, this failed, but it's okay" without having to change the state to success, or clear..
