[users@httpd] Questions about writing modules

I'm in the process of modifying an Apache module which someone
else wrote for Linux.  I'm modifying it for Windows.

1. Is there a better place to ask questions than here?

2. The module uses the ap_hook_post_config call back
   to do some initialization.  This is getting called three times
   during Apache initialization.  Is this normal?
 
3. The post_config code is using static variables to pass
   stuff to a later hander invocation.  I saw some things
   that said this is a bad idea, and in fact some of the
   statics get reinitialized to zero on each of the three post_config
   invocations.  But the Apache modules I've looked at seem to use
   a lot of statics for this purpose.

is the right place, but may or may not have much activity.  If your
question is very technical and specific, you can ask on
dev@httpd.apache.org.

Unfortunately, there seem to be few developers hanging out on this list
lately.
