[jira] [Commented] (AMBARI-12834) Ambari Hive roles in invalid state, cannot restart service

Nick Dimiduk commented on AMBARI-12834:
---------------------------------------

After some broken symlinks related to hdp-select, i'm now having the same issue with my HBASE_CLIENT components. I have fixed the symlinks and restarted ambari-server, as suggested in [this thread|https://community.hortonworks.com/questions/20455/unable-to-install-the-client-components-after-amba.html]. Yet client configuration refresh still fails with

{noformat}
On host hbase-102-26.dev.icebrg.io role HBASE_CLIENT in invalid state.
Invalid transition. Invalid event: HOST_SVCCOMP_OP_IN_PROGRESS at INSTALL_FAILED

> Ambari has run in to another invalid state scenario where it's unable to restart a service, in this case Hive. The service OP goes to yellow with the following errors:
> {code}On host <host> role HCAT in invalid state.
> Invalid transition. Invalid event: HOST_SVCCOMP_OP_IN_PROGRESS at INSTALL_FAILED{code}
> {code}On host <host> role HIVE_CLIENT in invalid state.
> Invalid transition. Invalid event: HOST_SVCCOMP_OP_IN_PROGRESS at INSTALL_FAILED{code}
> This was previously working, but is now failing to restart with this error, and trying just a start (it's already started) prompts for kerberos admin principal.
> I'm attaching the ambari server log.
