Release plugin release?

Hi,

any chance to do a maven release plugin release soon? 2.4 has the annoying
regression of not being able to deploy from a local repo (fixed in
MRELEASE-818) so either getting 2.4.1 or 2.5 would be really helpful.

I'd hoped we could add some GIT related fixes too from the SCM project.
So right now I'm thinking of falling back to SCM-1.7 and prepare a 2.4.1  
of the maven-release-plugin
I could do that this weekend.

There's some activity on the SCM-project. If it's worth to push a release  
of SCM, then I'd like to wait for that before pushing a new version of the  
maven-release-plugin.
If it takes more than a week, I'll push the maven-release-plugin anyway.
