Apache 1.3.12 Not Restarting
Hello:
I am trying to troubleshoot and intermittent (every 6-8th
week) problem with apache not restarting in conjunction with the
logrotate utility. For each logfile I am doing an "apachectl restart"
in the /etc/logrotate.d/apache file. OS is RedHat 6.1, kernel
2.2.12-20smp. When it does not restart, I see the following messages in
error_log:
Attempt to free unreferenced scalar during global destruction.
Attempt to free unreferenced scalar during global destruction.
Attempt to free unreferenced scalar during global destruction.
Attempt to free unreferenced scalar during global destruction.
[Sun Apr 7 04:02:06 2002] [warn] child process 27813 did not exit,
sending another SIGHUP
[Sun Apr 7 04:02:06 2002] [warn] child process 27801 did not exit,
sending another SIGHUP
[Sun Apr 7 04:02:06 2002] [warn] child process 27802 did not exit,
sending another SIGHUP
[Sun Apr 7 04:02:06 2002] [warn] child process 27804 did not exit,
sending another SIGHUP
[Sun Apr 7 04:02:06 2002] [warn] child process 27805 did not exit,
sending another SIGHUP
[Sun Apr 7 04:02:06 2002] [warn] child process 27807 did not exit,
sending another SIGHUP

exit, sending a SIGKILL
[Sun Apr 7 04:02:12 2002] [notice] SIGHUP received. Attempting to
restart
BTW, I am an Apache newbie. Any help is appreciated.

1. 1.3.12 is very old. You won't get much help debugging that.
2. This is very likely a problem with a third-party module. What
modules are you using?
