For internal checkpoint, {{CompletedCheckpointStats.getExternalPath()}} could be {{null}}.
This will leads to {{LatestCompletedCheckpointExternalPathGauge}} to return {{null}} value to {{MetricDumpSerialization}}, then it will throw {{NullPointerException}} in {{serializeGauge}} function.
