DTD Scanner

Previously I wrote a program that was converting a DTD file to
appropriate
Java classes that generated XML strings according to the definition.

I was using IBM XML lib using following parser class:
com.ibm.xml.parsers.*;
com.ibm.xml.parser.*;

Now I am trying to use apache lib.  My question is how do I get a ref to
XMLDTDScanner class(insted of instanciating one, to much overhead,work)
or any class that would parse the DTD and throw DTD
events(have its own event handler).
Before there use to be a method in the parser class called readDTDStream
that would parse the DTD file.
