setting of environment variable REMOTE_USER

Summary: setting of environment variable REMOTE_USER
           Product: Apache httpd-1.3
           Version: 1.3.23
          Platform: All
               URL: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/howto/auth.html
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: Documentation
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: t.hartwig@crapoud.com

In the documentation there is no word of the environment variable REMOTE_USER,
which is set if a user was successful authorized by apache authentication, nor
in the documentation of the responsible modules. I think it would be helpful
if it is clear that such a variable exists and is set by the authentication
module.
