[jira] Commented: (LUCENE-1403) StandardTokenizer - Improper
Hostname Recognition
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-1403?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12646163#action_12646163 ]
Mark Miller commented on LUCENE-1403:
-------------------------------------
It simple enough to add '-' to the HOSTS regex, but as always, its a back compat problem with StandardAnalyer. It seems there are new StandardAnalyzer exceptions brought up every few weeks - isn't that why it used to be billed more as an example than the end/all be all? With as many hoops as have been jumped over already though, I suppose its a reasonable one.

> Key: LUCENE-1403
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-1403
> Project: Lucene - Java
> Issue Type: Bug
> Affects Versions: 2.3.1, 2.3.2
> Environment: Java 5
> Reporter: Cullin Wible
>
> As of 2.3.1 the documentation for the StandardTokenizer states that it "Recognizes email addresses and internet hostnames as one token."
> However hostnames such as "my-host.com" are recognized as two tokens "my" and "host.com".
> Any host with a dash in the name is not recognized properly.
