Solution for using SVN ACL's with non-svnserve-based repository access?
As per the subject line, and based on both the existing docs, and a search
of the list archives, it seems to me that at this point in time, there is no
direct way to use SVN ACL's to enforce directory level permissions without
using svnserve directly.
Is my research correct?

Apparently those that are older than 1.3 ;)
The official book

Will look now. Thanks for your help!

It was actually in Apache before svnserve (not sure when the
functionality came to Apache (it was 1.2 or earlier), but it came to
svnserve in 1.3). Which docs are you reading? The official book
(svnbook.org) definitely explains doing it in Apache.

Thanks, Matt! After Andy's follow-up I tracked down >
http://svnbook.red-bean.com/nightly/en/svn.serverconfig.httpd.html#svn.serverconfig.httpd.authz.perdir<
but I appreciate your follow-up none-the-less...

use mod_authz_svn - it allows per-directory access control

Oh, you can? Is this newer functionality, or have I been mis-reading the
docs/threads on the subject?
Are you looking at using file:/// access and need the
> ACLs there?
No, http and https. Is that how you go about it? i.e. Use the file
protocol to serve the SVN repository as if it was being served directly from
the file system?

You can serve via Apache as well, and get the same level of
permissions. Are you looking at using file:/// access and need the
ACLs there?
