[jira] Resolved: (JAMES-143) NNTP Server doesn't work with Sylpheed
Message:
The following issue has been resolved as WON'T FIX.
Resolver: Noel J. Bergman
Date: Tue, 13 Apr 2004 10:20 PM
Based upon "In Sylpheed ones the end of file ISN'T a cr/lf
or a \n, so, if I add that character at the end of file now I can read it with any NNTP client", it appears that Sylpheed is not RFC compliant, and in a way that an RFC compliant server is forbidden from accepting. The line terminator MUST be CRLF.

Key: JAMES-143
Summary: NNTP Server doesn't work with Sylpheed
Type: Bug
Status: Resolved
Resolution: WON'T FIX
Project: James
Components:
NNTPServer & Repository
Versions:

Description:
My James 2.1.3 NNTP installation is working ok with Mozilla. The problem is,
when I post a message with Sylpheed (http://sylpheed.good-day.net/ ) it's
posted ok, and is listed in the messages list, but when I tried to read it
from Mozilla or from Sylpheed, the server stalls and the message is never
fetched. This only happens with messages posted from Sylpheed, with it I
can read all messages posted by Mozilla without problems.
I analized the NNTP repository, and there is a difference between Sylpheed
and Mozilla posted messages. In Sylpheed ones the end of file ISN'T a cr/lf
or a \n, so, if I add that character at the end of file now I can read it
with any NNTP client. The same happens if I add some \n's at the end of the
message when posting from Sylpheed. I'm not sure if this is a Sylpheed bug
or a James one, feel free to forward it to the Sylpheed mailing list's :).
