Using twitter to promote Apache Isis

(this mail is same as one also just sent to dev@, I've just corrected the
subject line).

~~~~
Oscar and I have been having a conversation on private@ regarding promoting
the framework via twitter (the @ApacheIsis account; Jeroen has the
credentials) using the new v1.12.0 screencasts.
We agreed the conversation should be on dev@ for others to participate.  So
see thread below...
Thoughts welcome (along with any other ideas for promoting the framework,
of course).
Dan
These are great, Oscar, thanks.  I'll be happy to add to the docs for the
other existing screencast, and as I add new screencasts.
Perhaps we could set a schedule of doing 3 tweets a day, but with some
repeats, eg:
day 1: screencast #1, screencast #2, screencast #3
day 2: screencast #2, screencast #3, screencast #4
day 3: screencast #3, screencast #4, screencast #5
etc
Are you happy to move this conversation to dev@?
Thx
Dan
Hi Dan.
Count with that.
I'll start scheduling the ones currently in the Excel file.
I'll contact also Jeroen in order to obtain the password.
Cheers,
Oscar
+1 to both of those suggestions.
If you can take care of the scheduling, I'll write some additional
pre-canned tweets similar to those you've done. (changing my mind here)
perhaps best and request would simply be to choose two tweets at random
from a list of 50 or more; that way the feed will be of use even to current
users of the framework.
I think the lead capture form is a good idea also. I'll have a think about
the best way to implement that (it's just a static site, there's no
backend, so I guess I need some javascript to create an email subscription
message from the browser).
Thx,
Dan
Re: Using Twitter to promote Apache Isis
Posted by Óscar Bou - GOVERTIS <o....@govertis.com>.
Hi all.
We will be tweeting this whole week with our @ApacheIsis account:
https://twitter.com/apacheisis <https://twitter.com/apacheisis>
We will tweet twice a day 2-4 min. short screencasts showing many Apache Isis capabilities.
Remember they’re all available at:
https://isis.apache.org/screencasts.html <https://isis.apache.org/screencasts.html>
If still not doing it, please follow @ApacheIsis, select the “Turn on notifications” option for our community account and retweet to spread the word !!!
Cheers,
Oscar
I don't think we can change the policy for stripping attachments... that is
an ASF-wide policy.
AW: Using twitter to promote Apache Isis
I like the idea.
Although tools like JIRA or Stackoverflow show what is possible today, mailing lists are still the working horse.
Anything that could be done regarding screenshot attachments?
Hi all.
Despite we can Implement an Apache Isis app in the near future, why don't we just schedule currently proposed tweets and a few more and start evaluating its effectiveness?
I also consider there might be some kind of "lead capture form" on the main page, inviting visitors to subscribe to the mailing list.
Something like a newsletter subscription form, but subscribing instead to the users@, and optionally @dev, mailing lists.
Not too intrusive, but effective enough ...
Once subscribed they will start to see  the platform as helpful for their projects.
But that step perhaps needs a more effective form, clearer subscription link, etc on the website.
"Marketing" is important to grow the community, and so the lead capture step.
Opinions ?
Oscar
