I'm running 1.1 (standalone) w/o yarn on CDH 5.2.  I'm just doing a quick test:
val source = sc.textFile("/tmp/testfile.txt")
source.saveAsTextFile("/tmp/test_spark_output")

and I'm hitting that issue, java.lang.IllegalStateException: unread block data.  The versions on all the nodes are identical.  I can't figure out what the exact issue is.
