Uploading to tomcat with maven 3?

I am trying to setup a maven pom.xml to upload an eclipse P2 update
site (created using helios). I have looked at:

http://docs.atlassian.com/maven-upload-plugin/1.1/usage.html

but I can't find any info on how to push a local eclipse P2 update
site to a remote tomcat server. Any ideas on how to accomplish this
based on an eclipse maven project and running maven3 from the
commandline?
