Using if controller I am not able to check if the string is empty or string.length==0

Hi ,

I  am using Jmeter 2.0.1...
I have a user parameter defined as "supplier" with empty string...

Using if controller I am not able to check if the string is empty or
string.length==0....

Whatz the issue ? I am able to use the if for strings....?

Please suggest....
