Changes in xml?

Hi all, 

    I'm using log4j and I have created a new category called MyCategory. Well, the .xml file does not recognise this category when it is called, it sends a ClassCastException and the program does not work. Do I need to change ' <category name="..." ' to  ' <MyCategory name="..." ' in the .xml file?
