Apache & Tomcat

Why not to use Tomcat alone? What offers the integration of Apache with Tomcat for a pure Java/XML/HTML web site?

John Turner's answer to this was good.

Basically, if you can get your site working, with all the
functionality you want, and acceptable performance, with just Tomcat,
go for it. As you can tell from most of the posts on this list, it
will simplify your life greatly :-). But there are many reasons you
may want/need to use it with Apache.
