FYI: role for mobile devices in W3C WAI-ARIA 1.1

   - WAI-ARIA 1.1 and the Core Accessibility API Mapping Specification
   working drafts have been updated:

New in the WAI-ARIA draft is enhanced support for tables, grids, and
treegrids, a new feature called aria-current, the inclusion of a switch
role for mobile devices, and other enhancements to align better with HTML5
- including a provision to allow for native host language semantics to be
used without having an ARIA role provided the host language semantics
equates to the appropriate ARIA (e.g. you don't need to do <tr role="row">
<tr> would be fine). ARIA 1.1 is on track for completion at then end of
2016.

*Microsoft is working to do a better job in supporting ARIA 1.1 in
Edge *through
their UI Automation interfaces.

   - A First Public Working Draft of the Digital Publishing WAI-ARIA module
   has been published:

The digital publishing industry is now working the use of these into their
plans for content authoring.

   - The W3C Authoring Tools Accessibility Guidelines have reached Proposed
   Recommendation status and should be a final recommendation in September:
