Officla log4j 1.2.12 Release
The log4j team is proud to announce the official release of log4j 1.2.12!
This new version contains a number of bug fixes, the addition of the much
requested TRACE level, and is compile and runtime compatible with the
earlier JDK's 1.1 and 1.2 (this feature had been inadvertently broken in
version 1.2.11). Other than the addition of the TRACE level, the api is
identical to earlier versions of 1.2.X.
You can download version 1.2.12 from:
http://logging.apache.org/site/binindex.cgi
The log4j team expects this to be the last release for the log4j 1.2.X
series. Focus is now going to be applied to completing the long awaited
version 1.3 which will have a number of additions and improvements (early
alpha versions are also available at the above link).
Thank you for your continued support!

Of course, it would be nice if I could avoid typo's in the subject. Erg.
I just want to thank everyone for the work on this release. There was a lot
of focus on lover-level stuff in this beast to make it compatible with the
earlier JDK's after my build fumble on version 1.2.11. And being able to
really test that compatibility is great. Almost of that credit goes to Curt
"I set up a jdk 1.1 partition" Arnold. But we all cranked out a number of
bug fixes and resolutions.
Onward to the svn migration and the eventual release of version 1.3!

Well, there is only so much you can fit into a dot release...:-) But we
will certainly take the patch into consideration for the 1.3 release too. I
don't know how likely it is at this point (we need to review the tasks,
etc), but we were hoping to have 1.3 released before the end of this year.
