DO NOT REPLY [Bug 51790] New: It is necessary to set LANG=en_US.UTF-8

https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=51790

             Bug #: 51790
Summary: It is necessary to set LANG=en_US.UTF-8
           Product: Fop
           Version: 1.0
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: minor
          Priority: P2
         Component: documentation
        AssignedTo: fop-dev@xmlgraphics.apache.org
        ReportedBy: ne01026@shark.2a.pl
    Classification: Unclassified

When building FOP, it is necessary to set $LANG to en_US.UTF-8, otherwise you
get warnings like the following:

  fop-1.0/src/java/org/apache/fop/render/rtf/RTFHandler.java:136: warning:
unmappable character for encoding ASCII

This preparation should be mentioned in the documentation.

batch transition to closed; if someone wishes to restore one of these to
resolved in order to perform a verification step, then feel free to do so

Thanks for your bug report. Java file must contain ascii characters only. You
should be able to build FOP with an ascii-only locale. Please let us know if
you find other problematic files.

Thanks,
Vincent
