hudson very confused
Hudson also thinks that I am logged in as System. That doesn't seem right.

Restart seems to have helped. The Mahout job gets scheduled now although it
is running very slowly (2 minutes to start checking out code). That may be
part of a startup transient load.

ergh, that's a problem, and has happened before, not sure what the cause is at this stage.
I'll do the usual java solution and restart the master.

This is a known bug in Hudson and has been reported to the Hudson devs:
