As, on numerous occasions, I have immediately retyped my password after seeing the "Invalid login" banner only to discover that I then had to type it yet again because I had forgotten to first click into the password box a second time, I think leaving the cursor in the password box for immediate retyping of mistyped passwords would seem to make sense.
