Under Windows XP, I had to downgrade from ANT 1.7.0 to ANT 1.6.5 to make it run
the MIT DSpace installation script. It seems to be an old bug coming back. I
tried many combinations. ANT 1.6.5 worked instantly...

Sorry, I cannot immediatly reinstall ANT 1.7 as I solved my problem (getting a
working ANT) by downgrading to 1.6.5. The reason I entered a bug report was to
help the others with the new 1.7 distribution. When I installed 1.7, there was
no ANT at all on the machine (now, there is 1.6.5).

What I can say:
* Server http://www.destin.be is the target of this install.
It runs on Windows XP and it is regularly updated.
* With Ant 1.6.5, D-Space 1.4.1 installs itself without any problem.

* With Ant 1.7.0, ANT.BAT is immediatly complaining about ANT_HOME definition:
"ANT_HOME is set incorrectly or ant could not be located. Please set ANT_HOME"
* ANT_HOME and JAVA_HOME are defined correctly without slash at the end.
ANT_HOME=C:\APACHE\ANT
JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10
* Path contains ANT and JAVA bin directory:
Path=C:\Perl\bin\;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program
Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin;%JAVA_HOME%\bin;%ANT_HOME%\bin
* The install directory for D-Space is R:\dspace-source
(R: being a second local disk)
I hope this is more complete and will permit to go further on this issue.

C:\APACHE\ANT looks like a fairly well-mangled installation location for Ant.
You'll have to tell us how you installed Ant 1.7.0 as well as what the contents
of C:\APACHE\ANT are if we are to have any hope of telling you what is wrong.

Having same problem. XP Pro SP2. Downloaded ant-1.7.0. Put in convenient
directory (C:\Dev\apache-ant-1.7.0). Updated PATH to include
C:\Dev\apache-ant-1.7.0\bin and set ANT_HOME to C:\Dev\apache-ant-1.7.0. Trying
'ant' gives "ANT_HOME is set incorrectly or ant could not be located. Please set
ANT_HOME". 'set' at same prompt confirms ANT_HOME is set to correct path.
As with previous reporter, moving to ant-1.6.5 (at C:\Dev\apache-ant-1.6.5)
resolved the problem. So at the very least, 1.7.0 is misreporting some other
problem as an ANT_HOME issue.
