When prunsrv creates a service, it creates additional registry entries under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apache Software Foundation\ProcRun 2.0\<ServiceName>
To prevent accidental changes to other services, prunsrv could check that this entry exists before allowing any modifications to the service.

Resolution: Won't Fix
There are zillion of other tools that can mess up your service database if you make a typo during management.
procrun is not generic tool for managing the registry and should be used from well defined scripts.
