Monitoring Tomcat

What do you all use or recommend to monitor Tomcat and
be sure that it is responding? Are there any general
purpose tools that could be adapted to work with
Tomcat and or Apache? Thanks.

With v4, check out "The Valve Component" which means you can use the
same apache tools on the tomcat access logs.

Details of "The Valve Component" is in the v4.0 docs (in
tomcat-docs/config/valve.html)
