Centos 8 changed its release model and became CentosStream, which does not directly relate to a Redhat release. The default yum repositories for Centos 8 have now shut down. This spurred the creation of multiple Centos alternatives that keep the relationship to Redhat releases.

We should change our build scripts to allow supporting these alternatives.
