Join Apache Flume Project as Developer

Hello,

I would like to join the Apache Flume Project as a Developer.

Can you please provide me with the details for doing the same.

Thanks and Regards,

Anish Mohile

I would suggest you get started by reading http://www.apache.org/foundation/how-it-works.html and then follow that up with http://jakarta.apache.org/site/contributing.html. Although the second link is quite old and was written for a different project, it is just as applicable today as it was then. For Flume specific information you should then look at https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/FLUME/How+to+Contribute. If you look at the steps involved in "Contributing Changes" you will see that you don't have to be a committer on the project to contribute. In fact, in Flume the process committers follow is virtually the same as for those without commit access.

Hi Anish,
it's good to hear about your interest!

We do not have official "developer" position here in Apache Flume project. Anybody around the world can take the sources and start hacking them. Just checkout the sources from

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/flume/

... and start coding :-) There is a getting started guide on our wiki that might help you with your first steps:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/FLUME/Getting+Started

You might be also interested in our never ending library for improvement ideas that is located on following link:

(okej, it's just usual bug tracking system)
