   We need to add a control bit to the `sidx` value to ensure backward compatibility. This change is necessary as we plan to introduce more value types in the future. 
   
   **Acceptance Criteria:**
   - Add a control bit to the `sidx` structure.
   - Ensure that this addition does not break existing functionality.
