Migrating from File-store to JDBC-store

I am interested in switching from a file-based mail repository to a jdbc-based 
repository.

Is there a mechanism or recommended strategy for switching from an active 
file-based repository to a JDBC-based repository without losing mail 
currently existing on the file system?
