known issues with SVN
Hi,
We use SNV at work and are very happy with it. Problem is that a colleague who is responsible for the upkeep is very annoying. As a prank I would like to know about some bug in the program.
For instance, is there a way to cause an unexpected error when committing a file? Anything will do!
Hope you guys can help me out.
Regards,
Danny

Feel free to search the issue tracker for open issues. But pranks are
probably not a good activity in the workplace.

What do you mean? Very annoying people almost never participate in
internet mailing lists :).
I agree that pranking someone with an apparent technical problem is a
really bad idea, and doubly so if it's someone you don't even like.
But since we're on the topic, I'll share a Subversion-related prank I
pulled last April Fool's Day. The morning of April 1st, everyone in
development received an email from me detailing how, to increase code
quality, we would now be requiring a Subversion Commit Request Form
before further changes to the codebase would be allowed. The form
contained spaces for a description of the needed change (UNIX unidiff
format preferred, naturally) and for signatures from the code change
requester, a code reviewer, and a manager.
Even though the dev list was soon flooded with bureaucratic doubletalk
and Office Space references, one poor developer kept pushing back,
talking about how this was going to make everything so slow and was it
really necessary that we enact this policy before he finally noticed the
date.
So again, don't pull pranks in your workplace. But if you do, do it
well. "OMG SUBVERSION HAS A BUG" isn't even funny so where are you going
with that plan?
see you in april!
