PDF 1.2? Why not 1.3?

Hi,
I'm wondering why FOP outputs PDF 1.2 rather than 1.3? I've been
adding vector graphics support to the PDF
stuff, and I'd like to use a few of the 1.3 spec's features. Is there a
reason I should limit myself to the 1.2 spec?

Well, this has come up for discussion more than once. I personally support
targeting the 1.3 spec - Adobe tends to take a long time between PDF versions,
which is cool, and we can expect to have it around for a while, plus Reader 4.0
is ubiquitous.
