The following work log has been added to this issue:

  Logged By: Ben Walding
    Created: Thu, 30 Jan 2003 6:06 AM
Time Logged: 5 hours
Description:
First checkin is complete. Seems to compile (but bootstrap fails for other reasons).

Add maven.linkcheck.enable=true to project.properties to make it run.

maven xdoc:jelly-transform
to make it run, should be able to run standalone shortly.

Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: MAVEN-214
Summary: Create a web link checker plugin
       Type: New Feature

     Status: In Progress
   Priority: Major

 Time Spent: 5 hours
   Estimate: 2 hours

    Project: maven
  Component: None

   Assignee: Ben Walding
   Reporter: Ben Walding

    Created: Fri, 24 Jan 2003 8:28 AM
    Updated: Thu, 30 Jan 2003 6:06 AM
Environment: All

Description:
I propose (and am willing to implement) a web link checker for all generated html documents.

My initial plan would be to use jtidy or similar to process the html and then validate the links.

It would reuse proxies set for the project.
It would utilise the online / offline flag (no link checking offline).
It would generate a report listing failed links
It would allow a user to set links to ignore (via regex)
