cookie authentication

Hello,

We're currently using a JNDIRealm for LDAP, form based authentication.
We'd like to add a "remember me" checkbox on the login page, so that 
the a user can be logged in automatically on all subsequent visits.

What's the best way to do this?  Is there a way to turn on something like 
"long-term session persistance" in Tomcat?  Is there a way to 
force-authenticate a session when a cookie is found?
