Agreed.
There are dozen of places that have either copy/paste detection of basically compile time PREFIX.
Also there is hard coded $PREFIX/etc/traffic_server file containing the PREFIX or $DESTDIR/$PREFIX
which is checked as first.
The entire concept doesn't permit the customizable layout and should be unified.

The check for etc/traffic_server should be ${pkgsysconfdir}/trafficserver-root
Name of the etc/traffic_server is simply confusing and collides with the traffic_server binary.
