Matching a Node with his ElementDeclaration

It is easy to retrieve typeInfo (via getElementDeclaration) of a Node if
this node has been validated and therefore is an instanceof PSVIElement.
But how can I come to ElementDeclaration when the node was not
validated. I do have a schemagrammar in the form a an XSModel. I cannot
see another way to find the related ElementDeclarion other then
traversing and analyzing the XSModel. But this can be a complicated task
and I would prefer a more simple method.

A related question. In the DOM Level 3 Validation Specification is an
interface ElementEditVAL, with methods like getAllowedChildren. Is there
any chance these specifications will be implemented in Xerces?
I' am using to Xerces 2.6.2.
