Bug with headers?

Hi,

I'm running James v2.1.2a2.

I'm having problems with SpamCop.net as some of the messages I've redirected
to the service have had bad headers.

I've checked, and the headers are "bad" before they're redirected/forwarded
anywhere, so either there's a "problem" in James, or someone has figured-out
how to bugger things up in a message header.

I'm no expert on this sort of thing, and so don't really know where the
problem is or how to track it down.

Here's an "obviously" bad header:

Return-Path: Received: from 87.15.78.89 ([87.15.78.89]) by pet.vosn.net with

I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, but the bad head would be
the following bit:

Received: from 62.108.13.68 (node0d44.a2000.nl [62.108.13.68]) by
odo2.empowergeo.com with SMTP (Microsoft Exchange Internet Mail Service
Version 5.5.2653.13)
	id 1XVN5X91; Sun, 9 Mar 2003 10:07:49 -0600

Every header line should be [name]: <blah>. If this continues to the
next line, you need whitespace to start the line, otherwise it's
supposed to be another header. "odo2.empowergeo.com" has no colon
following it, so that's not another header. I would expect JavaMail is
choking on this, but I'm not sure what would happen to this in James nor
what you can do about it.

Yeah, or use Quoted-printable or Base64 transfer-encoding like what I do when you'll find that lines aren't wrapped in transport and in most clients they will be wrapped to the size of the open window so that you can "unfold" them by widening the window. Always assuming that you have anough to say that will fill a very long line. Like this one ;-)

It looks like he is probably referring to the return-path, but I'm not a big
fan of inline text that needs to be reviewed. Things get reformatted too
much to validate, especially since linebreaks count.

Spammers have been "buggering up" message headers for a long time to try
following spam detection.
