Redeploy in JBoss Causes Hang

Greetings. When I remove the cocoon.war from my JBoss Deployment directory and then put it back in, the application says that it deploys correctly but when I try to access  the cocoon page, it takes quite a long time (over a minute) to see the welcome page. What's going on here?
