[VOTE] Release 2.0.3

Hi Lenya devs,

I think it is time for another maintenance release. WDYT?

I suggest that the vote will be open until Wednesday, March 18 15:00 CET
(3 days excluding the weekend).

Any volunteers for the release manager job? Otherwise I don't mind doing it.

Yes I'm also not happy with this "solution" and maybe there are still
some validation problems with kupu. :(
When we have a better solution we should remember to delete the
schemas in the default publication.
What about to remove kupu from the first position of the editors list,
since lenya is a xml cms and kupu is just a html editor ?

It seems kupu is working now on my local installation..
I had to include the normal table schema and to declare table as
inline and block element, since kupu places tables inside <p> tags.
I have done it inside the default publication using the fallback
protokoll.
Should I commit ?

This sounds good. I'm firing up our old Windows box just now and will
try to take care of the IE issue.

I only think that new users trying the frst listet editor shoudn't get
troubles creatng at
table. Update kupu to version 1.4 may be complicated. On the other side I
see that the new onform editor is very usefull and should be provided to
the users (after it works with IE). So I would propose to overwrite the
table tag of the RelaxNg schema in the default publication (not in the
resource type) . After this and the fix of the IE issue of oneform, 2.0.3
should be released.

I'm a bit alarmed by the lack of response to this vote. I hope this is
due to the editor-related considerations mentioned by Rudolf. Counting
Rudolf's mail as -1, there are zero positive and one negative vote.

The release will be postponed until the editor issues are resolved. I
seriously hope we can address these issues asap. TIA to everyone who
helps investigating! We should avoid falling into the habit of overly
long release cycles again.

Maybe we can give a hint to the upcomming Firedocs integration together
with this new release and show people how to test.

A new css based layout of the default publication without using tables
would be fine.

I wonder if we should include the Firedocs integration in 2.0.3.
Actually I'd prefer to release a low-risk version now (with no new code
from the contributions area), and do some more testing, bugfixing and
documentation work before officially announcing the Firedocs integration.

Since the publication page processing has to be changed to support
Fireocs, I'd even say this could affect the second digit of the version
number. How about releasing 2.1 with an updated version of the default
publication? Maybe we'll even have a new layout by then.

I don't think we can easily solve the 415 error issue. But I'd like to

I'm not shure. Creating of tables mostly works for me now, but there are
still other "415 erorr" situtations as cheng reported.

Lenya uses Kupu version 1.2 but the actual version is 1.4. Since we are not
using Kupu here and I don't know much about the interals, updating to
version 1.4 might be hard and long work.
Is anybody here using Kupu ?
I think it would be a pitty if this Kupu issues stop the new release. If we
are not able to solve these problems during the next days (I think they
were already present in former releases), I would propose to move kupu form
the first to the last position of the editors list, or to move it to the
contributions branch. So new Lenya users won't get in trouble using the
first available editor.
Addtionaly we can recomend the installation of other WYSIWYG editors for IE
users like TinyMCE or FCKEditor.

Does this problem still exist? BXE basically works for me.

Do you think that your solution to this issue is sufficient for the release?

If these issues can be considered resolved, I'd like to start a new vote

In the kupu module is the following external definition:
http://codespeak.net/svn/kupu/branch/kupu-1.2
At the kupu repository is a 1.4 branch and a trunk:
http://codespeak.net/svn/kupu/branch/kupu-1.4
http://codespeak.net/svn/kupu/trunk/kupu/
I tried to use this versions but wasn't successful.
Maybe we should try to update kupu before we change the rng schema.

Isn't that a validation issue? Needing to change the rng file to use
more features? In the past this has broke BXE. I've tried to look into
the issue of getting BXE to work with the full XHTML rng, but haven't
figured out where the rng itself fails validation.

I do agree that it is probably the first thing people try, so it does
need to work. Or change it so the first natural option people choose to
work. Not sure what the answer to that question is.

Yes, but a new user would first try the kupu editor, because it's the first
entry in the editors drop down menu.
And when he fails creating a table ......
Maybe we have to change the order of the editors of the default
publication.

that's annoying – unfortunately I don't have a Windows machine at the
moment, but I'll try to help as much as possible.

Would you mind providing some details? Thanks!

Isn't that an ancient issue?

Actually it's not that complicated, just quite a lot of tasks that have
to be done. If you follow the release guidelines closely, there's not
much that can go wrong.

http://lenya.apache.org/docu/rm.html

But I think it's fine to share the load, e.g. someone else updates the
website etc.

Fine but there are 3 issues with the editors which schould be fixed before:

1. The syntax highlighting of the new oneform editor is great but I can't
save documents with the IE. I'll report a bug.
2. I also got a problem with BXE, but I have to find out what's going on
there. Maybe it's my fault.
3. Inserting of tables dosen't work with Kupu. (Cheng reported it
wednesday evening)

I think I'm not (yet) able to do the whole job, but how can I help ?
