Versioning XML document files without using WebDAV

I just want to use slide API to store versions( on a filesystem) of a XML
document and retrieve them. I couldn't find a working example anywhere that
would at least do that for one file on a filesystem.

My findings
============
1. There is a example/version/Test.java but it didn't seem to do anything
except for created contentstore directory. I suspect that the Domain.xml has
something to do with it  and also am wondering where I need to put the file
in order to be version controlled by the system.

I need
=======
1. Say a working sample example that does that or maybe some pointers to the
steps I need to follow to do the same.

Maybe the steps should also be part of the FAQ section .
