Licensing, the Universe and everything...

License broohahah status update...

I did not get around to doing as much of this as I wanted or driving any kind
of progress in the direction we want to go.

I did spend time at apachecon talking about this stuff with Cliff and others.
Other people talked to other people about it. Most of the talk was useful but
not in any way conclusive and there's not a lot of "concrete" stuff to report.

Cliff has been working hard to figure out the licensing policy the ASF has
historically followed to the extent it can be put into written words, and then
to provide the ASF board or its membership with a "decision framework" as for
"how much virality is okay". The harmony project is one of the things driving
the creation of this policy, we're an important "use case" if you will. No
decisions have been made. There is no timeframe, but a definite sense of
urgency does exist.

As far as I know no allow-dependency-on-LGPL decision was made either. Again,
not really any timeframe for progress there.

So, ehm, the usual.

In any case, happy new year!
