Release Manager for 12.3?
Hi all,
In one or two threads this topic has come up, let's put it into its own
thread -- we need a release manager for 12.3.
I saw Neil more or less volunteered but anyone else on the PMC is welcome
too, of course.

We may be running slightly out of schedule right now.
I don't think there are major new features that will be in 12.3, it could
be an opportunity for someone to work together with Neil, assuming he takes
up the mantle again, on this since it looks like a small maybe more
manageable one.

Well, yes, although everyone should be anyway! ;-)
Checking and chasing up JIRA reports; marking, testing, tidying up
(but not merging!) PRs for the integration branch, etc. are things for
the whole community. Really, the only things that should be specific
to the release manager are things that only a PMC member (or possibly
committer) can do.
Speaking of those things, incidentally, checking you have ssh and sudo
access to the VM, access to the Windows signing service, etc. may be
good as it might need an infra request.

Sounds good to me, and I think we do need to increase the pool of
people who know the process and have the right accesses, etc. to do
it. It's fairly straightforward, but the docs possibly need some
updating.

Sometime from Wednesday would be good. Liaise off list?
I may try and find a brief window before then to get the API sigs up
for review though.
Should we aim for the release window to actually close on Friday?
Time to chase up anything that should be included / fixed before we
move ahead with beta1?

Hi Neil,
Can we maybe do this release together? I would really like to be able to do
it, it would be a big achievement in my life to have managed a NetBeans
release, plus we really need to extend the number of people with the
experience to do this.
Maybe we can do a Zoom call together in the coming days just to talk
through the process as documented, to make sure everthing is clear to me,
and during that process we actually do the release?

Well, I'm really happy if anyone else wants to! :-) But if it's a
choice between me doing or no longer having quarterly releases, then
I'll take the former. I think we need to have an idea of who is
RM'ing earlier in future though, ie. immediately after previous
release from now on?
Been really tied up with work recently, which should quieten down a
bit soon, so could kick things off, somewhat late, next week.
There is an open "blocker" still against 12.3 about nb-javac from
Matthias I believe? I happen to agree with that, so would be good to
know what stage that is at?!
