Installation Help

Can someone please run through a installation of cocoon on the following system... the one on the web page doesnt work for me

system:
redhat 6.1
apache 1.3.9
cocoon .1.7.2
jserv 1.1
sun jdk 1.2.2

this where ive got files in my filesystem
/usr/local/cocoon-1.7.2/
/etc/httpd/conf
/etc/httpd/conf/jserv

could someone please please, run through wat i must do, treat me as a newbie please.
i just cant seem to get .xml request to pass through to cocoon.
